What is Windsurfing?

An acrobatic sport, yet also light-hearted and captivating, spot windsurfing demands physical skill, tenacity, and a great deal of passion. It's an adventure that repeats itself every day, relentlessly, a never-ending inspiration. The windsurfer knows this, feels it every time they climb onto their board and challenge the waves of the raging sea with ease and vigor.

The windsurfer knows it, he feels it every time he gets on the board and challenges the waves of the impetuous sea with naturalness and vigor.

And the same sensations were experienced in 1967 by Californian engineer James R. Drake , who, following a discussion with a friend, conceived the idea of taming the waves with a connected board and sail. An invention that must have seemed truly strange to many at the time, but which over time has sparked interest and acclaim around the world.

And today windsurfing is one of the most popular sports thanks to increasingly innovative techniques and cutting-edge equipment that guarantee stability and safety while sailing.

Considered a sailing discipline, windsurfing uses the propulsive force of wind and water to push the board and sail through the waves. The sail is mounted on a mast, which is attached to the board via a universal joint, also known as the mast foot. The windsurfer controls the sail with his or her power, aided by a boom.
